Last Update: 3/9/07

Purpose

Is to bring the classroom to the outdoors. Students will learn about nature and the environment through hands-on interactive activities. By exposing these students to the outdoors, they will gain an appreciation and respect for the natural systems that govern our everyday lives.

Objectives

  1. Providing students the opportunity to gain appreciation of the outdoors through environmental education
  2. Teaching students the importance of natural and cultural resource conservation
  3. Demonstrating to students the effects human activities have on the natural environment
  4. Providing the opportunity for students who otherwise would be financially unable to participate in this program
  5. Developing and nurturing partnerships with various agencies and community organizations

The students rotate around four interdisciplinary activities that included a Habitat Fluctuation Station, a Fossil Station, an Observational Drawing Station, and a Water Observation Station [Slide Show ] .
