2 (Saturday) Honey Creek Hike. 9-11 a.m. Join a trained interpretive guide for a walk through the beautiful Honey Creek State Natural Area. You’ll learn about the cultural and natural history of the area and enjoy the beauty of Honey Creek during this enjoyable 2-mile walk. Meet at the Rust House. Kids in Nature: Insect Safari. 9:30-10:30 a.m. Join us as we search the fields of the park for six-legged wonders of the insect kind. With nets in hand, we’ll capture (and release) butterflies, dragonflies, grasshoppers and other critters. Meet at the Amphitheater.

Exploration Station. 2-4:30 p.m. While you are at the river, make sure you stop by the Park’s canopy-covered Exploration Station. Check out the skulls, skins, skeletons and other artifacts and visit with the Park Interpreters.

Saturday Night Speaker Series: Snakes and Reptiles. 8-9 p.m. Have you ever wondered about the kinds of snakes or other reptiles found in the Texas Hill Country? Please join Robert Perez of TPWD as he discusses the facts, myths and lore of our native reptile community. This program is sponsored by The Friends of Guadalupe River & Honey Creek. 8 (Friday) Stories in the Stars. 8-10 p.m. Start your weekend off with a fun-filled look at the night sky. We’ll set our sites on Jupiter and the moon along with a few deep sky objects, the constellations of summer, and learn about the stories of heroes, villains and princesses that adorn the night sky. Meet at the Amphitheatre.

Guest speaker Holly Camero, past President of the Alamo Area chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists will provide a presentation on the importance of invertebrates, especially arthropods, to our environment. Kids in Nature: Who Goes There? 9:30-10:30 a.m. Join us for a search of the fields and woodlands of Guadalupe River State Park as we search for animals of the furred, feathered and scaly kind – and everything in-between! We’ll become nature detectives as we search for wildlife and their signs. The morning will conclude with special nature mystery to solve. Meet at the Amphitheater.

Making of a Naturalist: Butterflies. 1-4 p.m. Join Park Interpreter Craig Hensley for a 3-hour workshop on the butterflies of the Hill Country. You’ll learn identification tips and tricks during the first hour followed by an in-the-field search for our gossamer-winged wonders. Meet at the Amphitheater. Join Park Interpreter Craig Hensley for a leisurely walk along one of our nature trails in search of flowers, birds and other wonders of the park. Bring water and be prepared to walk a minimum of two miles. Meet at the Amphitheatre.

Saturday Night Speaker Series: Things that Don’t Go Bump in the Night. 8-9:30 p.m. All kinds of critters come out after the sun goes down. Join Park Interpreter Craig Hensley for a fun and informational look at the animals that wake up when we head for bed.
